Anthropic Expands Claude Cowork AI Assistant to Windows Platform

Anthropic has extended its AI assistant software, Claude Cowork, to the Windows operating system after its initial debut on macOS. Windows users now have access to the same comprehensive features that were available on macOS, including file access, the ability to perform multi-step tasks, various plugins, and MCP connectors that facilitate the integration of external services. Additionally, users can configure global and folder-specific instructions, which Claude adheres to in every session.

Currently, Cowork for Windows is in a Research Preview phase, allowing early testing and feedback from users. This feature is accessible to all paying subscribers through Claude's official website at claude.com/cowork. However, users should exercise caution when granting the system access to their files, especially if they contain sensitive or private information, due to potential cybersecurity risks. Generative AI systems can be vulnerable to adversarial prompts, such as prompt injections, among other security threats. In fact, Cowork experienced such an issue shortly after its initial launch.
