Apple's Smart Glasses Progressing Faster Than Anticipated, Set for 2026 Production

Apple is advancing rapidly in the development of its smart glasses, aiming for production to commence by late 2026, as reported by Bloomberg. This ambitious move includes three wearable AI devices: smart glasses, a pendant, and AirPods equipped with a camera. These technologies have been the subject of speculation, but new insights reveal significant progress.

The smart glasses, internally known as N50, are reportedly more advanced than initially thought. Apple has begun distributing broader prototypes within the company and is in the process of designing custom frames. The production is projected to start in December 2026. The glasses are expected to have dual cameras—one dedicated to capturing high-resolution images and another for computer vision, akin to the Vision Pro.

Additionally, Apple is developing a pendant device. This pendant, comparable in size to an AirTag, can be worn with a clip or chain and boasts processing capabilities similar to those of AirPods. The company is still deliberating over the inclusion of a speaker.

Meanwhile, the camera-integrated AirPods could potentially be launched as soon as this year. However, the pendant is not expected to hit the market before 2027. All three devices are centered around Siri and designed to complement the iPhone.

The Vision Pro team has now taken on the task of developing both the smart glasses and the pendant, marking a significant step in Apple's wearable technology strategy.
