Manus Debuts 'Agents' Feature on Telegram, Bypassing Meta's WhatsApp

Manus has introduced its innovative 'Agents' mode on Telegram, marking the first platform to support this new AI agent feature. Despite Meta's acquisition of Manus in late 2025, the company has chosen Telegram for the initial launch, with other platforms expected to follow. This new mode allows users to perform intricate tasks directly within chat, utilizing a simple QR code connection and accessible to all users regardless of their subscription level.

The 'Agents' feature on Telegram encompasses the full range of capabilities found in the web version, including multi-step processes, research, data handling, and document production. Users can also send voice messages, images, and files to the agent, selecting between two models: Manus 1.6 Max for more demanding tasks and Manus 1.6 Lite for swift inquiries. Importantly, Manus assures users that the agent does not have access to other Telegram conversations.

The decision to prioritize Telegram over WhatsApp, despite Meta's ownership, is intriguing. The acquisition deal is currently under evaluation by Chinese regulatory bodies, which might influence this strategic choice. Alternatively, Meta could be aiming to pilot this feature on a platform not directly associated with its brand, mitigating potential risks as agent technologies remain sensitive, particularly in terms of cybersecurity—a vulnerability highlighted by recent issues with AI software like OpenClawd.
